We tend to disregard our most precious asset - our health, due to our every day lifestyle, that has become ever more demanding. In many families, both parents have to spend all day working, if you take travelling into consideration, to make a living and pay for all those bills. Let us not forget about the kids, who also experience pressure with the loads of schoolwork and other extramural activities. Factors, like stress, lack of sleep and insufficient diet all contribute negatively to our health.
We are all seeking for quality of life and in this search; we dare sacrifice our wellbeing in order to achieve the “perfect” lifestyle. In this modern day and age where only the fittest survive, it is very easy to become ignorant of the symptoms forgoing serious illness. Then, when it is almost too late, we want to start taking action in trying to prevent a complete breakdown of our bodies. The health experts and practitioners stress the fact that regardless of our busy lifestyle, one should make time for exercise as well as regular check-ups, instead of just visiting the doctor when the flu’s and colds threaten you! The danger of putting off an annual check-up is that those “deadly” symptoms, we all fear, are not always felt or seen in time, before it is too late. A good example of this would be a woman who suffers from breast cancer, completely unaware of the small lump in her breast or the gentleman suffering from massive headaches and blurry vision due to extremely high blood pressure. These are everyday occurrences when the increasing demands of life takes its toll and the body cannot deal with this constant “attack” on the system!
If there is any lack in the mentioned attributes of an active lifestyle, one can easily become lethargic, which will inevitably lead to less productivity. For this reason, we strongly recommend the intake of dietary supplements. Keep in mind that the necessary balance is of the utmost importance to prevent us from taking vitamins in excess, which could also be detrimental to ones health. Therefore, one should consult a physician in advance before going on any diet or taking any supplement. The main threats to ones wellbeing is obviously smoking, consuming alcohol in excess as well as fatty foods. The key is to maintain a balanced lifestyle and by going on every diet, that the television and health magazines offer, might not necessarily aid you in losing unwanted weight. Regular exercise, whether it is jogging, cycling or just walking will definitely help you to relax and lose surplus weight. Thorough research has shown that prevention is far better than cure. By looking after your body when you are young, you prevent having to visit doctors and specialists every other day when you grow older! The key factor in preventing or even controlling most illnesses or diseases is early detection. This also includes the correct diagnosis, seeing that symptoms of the wide variety of conditions we find might be very similar. It is true that everyone suffers from headaches occasionally, feel nauseous from time to time and even experience dizziness. This could be a result of strain at work, simply a case of being over-worked, but also a developing condition that needs to be treated. The bottom line is that we should not procrastinate, go for those annual check-ups to ensure that your body is functioning at the desired levels to cope with the 21st Century lifestyle. |
